Our Story

SHG Welfare Foundation, a Section 8 Company, was established nearly seven years ago with a steadfast mission to empower underserved communities through collective development, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods. Since its inception, the Foundation has been committed to nurturing and strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as powerful platforms for economic independence, social transformation, and grassroots leadership.

Over the years, SHG Welfare Foundation has played a pivotal role in advancing women empowerment, skill training, micro-enterprise development, and financial literacy, particularly among rural and low-income populations. Through strategic partnerships with government agencies, CSR donors, and development institutions, the Foundation continues to design and implement high-impact initiatives that foster inclusive growth.

Mrs. Rekha Thapa

Director

Rekha Thapa is a distinguished and visionary leader in education, bringing over three decades of passionate service dedicated to nurturing young minds and transforming institutions. As a devoted custodian of academic excellence, she embraces her role as Director, poised to contribute significantly to the SHG Welfare Foundation's mission.

For over 30 years, Ms. Thapa served as Principal of St. George's Academy High School in Dehradun, where she spearheaded growth and administration, leading faculty teams and mentoring teaching staff to ensure academic excellence across all grade levels. She adeptly oversaw school affiliation, compliance, curriculum innovation, and infrastructure development.

Ms. Thapa's exceptional contributions have garnered numerous accolades, including the "Exemplary Principal Award" by the Uttarakhand Education Board (2017), felicitation by the Uttarakhand Governor's Office (2019), and recognition by the Ministry of Women & Child Development (2012) for her pioneering efforts in promoting inclusive education and girls' empowerment.

As Director, Ms. Thapa leverages her extensive expertise in academic leadership, curriculum planning, team building, and inclusive education to ensure that the light of education continues to brighten lives and foster holistic growth.

Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shahi

Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shahi brings valuable leadership and strategic vision to SHG Welfare Foundation as Director. His commitment to social welfare and community development aligns perfectly with the Foundation's mission of creating sustainable positive change.

As a dedicated leader in the social sector, Mr. Shahi contributes his expertise in organizational management and program development to advance the Foundation's diverse initiatives across education, healthcare, women's empowerment, and community strengthening.

His collaborative approach and focus on innovation help drive the Foundation's efforts to address critical social needs and create lasting impact in underserved communities. Mr. Shahi's leadership ensures that the Foundation continues to expand its reach and effectiveness in serving those who need it most.
